About
WHO WE ARE: Directors’ Collective NYC is proud to trace its long history to respected NYC directors' workshop groups dating back to the early 2000’s. Reimagined in 2014, DCNYC has thrived as an intimate, hands-on workshop and community where filmmakers improve their skills, exchange ideas, and provide feedback and support for each other’s work. The community was founded and is facilitated by experienced directors with a diverse background in film, television, commercial, and theater. The goal of the Collective is to create an honest, intensive, but supportive environment in which each director can evolve towards the next stage of their career.
WHAT WE DO: Twice a month, a curating director picks a two-page scene and casts two actors. During each workshop, anywhere from 4-8 directors take 15-20 minutes to craft their vision of the scene with the actors. Each then has the opportunity to receive feedback, both from the actors and their fellow directors, lending vital insight into their approach and communication. Continuing our efforts to improve as directors through these difficult times, we are currently organizing remote workshops with our core members as well as talented new members.
MEMBERSHIP / QUESTIONS: DCNYC is open to any director who has directed a short, web series, or feature film. If interested, please contact us at info@directorscollectivenyc.com
